Hi, I noticed that once I logged into the site the dashboard navigation at the top is not present and I navigate through the site. My hunch is that this is due to the fact that I need to update the theme. So my next question is, are there instructions for updating. I am also using the child theme.
Thanks for your time, I look forward to hearing from someone.

Updating Theme –
The way I update is to replace all files. No matter what method you use (there are plugins too like this – http://wordpress.org/plugins/easy-theme-and-plugin-upgrades/ and http://www.wpexplorer.com/envato-wordpress-toolkit-guide/ to update easily), you will need to backup your changes and redo any changes you made to the files on the new installation.Use tools like DiffMerge or WinMerge to compare the old and new files and redo the changes. You will spend probably an hour doing this but not more, specially if you have made changes only to a few select files. The dashboard settings ll be retained and hence Custom CSS entered into theme options should be fine. It’s always a good idea to have a backup though. Hope this helps.
March 27, 2017 at 2:33 pm #26228amyhaleMemberHi, thanks for getting back to me.
I went into the dashboard and was going to delete the extinct theme but the delete button is not there?
Can I just go into through FTP and replace that way?I am using the child theme and if I understand correctly that is where all my customization lives anyway, so I should be OK to delete the current theme and add the new one?
Look forward to hearing back.
Thanks Amy Hale
i included log in info last time, if you want to go in and take a look.
March 28, 2017 at 7:29 am #26236VeenaModeratorYou have to activate another theme first , can activate a default theme and then you ll be able to see the delete button.
Pls check here how to delete a wordpress theme through wp dashboard –

(No need to delete child theme.)March 28, 2017 at 2:18 pm #26240amyhaleMemberThanks. I always get nervous when updating themes.
Worked slick.I was hoping this would fix my missing admin navigation at the top of the page.
It did not. I am also missing the edit button on my pages.I am hoping you can help me figure out what the problem might be.
March 29, 2017 at 6:24 am #26248VeenaModeratorCan you pls share a temp login to your site?
The one you shared is not working it seems.BTW can you pls deactivate all plugins once and see if that makes any change or not?
March 30, 2017 at 5:20 pm #26267amyhaleMemberHi, I wanted to fill you in.
Problem solved and it turned out to be at the host level.
They needed to clear the servers cache.I was trying to find the problem and was switching themes but when I viewed the site the origianl theme was still there. Then I turned all the plugins off and that made no difference in the appearance of the site. It was strange.
So I finally reached out the the host and it was fixed in minutes.
I will remember this the next time I have unexplained weirdness.
Thanks for your help.Amy
