Is it possible to widgetize the sidebar in a portfolio page?

In the WP Admin page, you should find a widget area named ‘Portfolio Area’ which is only for portfolio pages. You should choose a portfolio template which is not ‘full width’ in order to make the sidebar appear on the portfolio pages.

The individual portfolio pages do not come with a sidebar.
