Hi there,
Great theme! I think I am missing something obvious here. I can’t figure out how to assign specific images to specific portfolio items. Example: I create a portfolio item, add a lot of info and assign a featured image. That image then becomes the first image that pops up when you click the portfolio item.
However, the subsequent images are the featured images of subsequent portfolio items. I would like to add (for example) four images to a specific portfolio item (on a per client basis), but can’t figure out how. In other words: create a portfolio item for client X, then assign images AB and C to that item. So if a visitor clicks on that portfolio item, only those images are shown that pertain to that client.
I suppose that is fairly mainstream, but have no idea how.
Any thoughts? Thanks in advance!
February 7, 2014 at 5:53 pm #4282RaghavendraModeratorThe way I have been doing it all along is to use the portfolio page to add images/gallery, videos, testimonials etc. The Add Media button in the visual editor helps to add videos, images, image galleries etc. for helping you to showcase your specific work. Hope that helps.

Thanks for the reply! I don;t quite understand what you mean though. Will this method allow me to assign specific images to specific portfolio items. I am trying to figure out the science behind it, but failing miserably. No matter what I try, I still end up with a ‘pop up’ that consist of ALL the featured images. And nothing else. :-S
February 7, 2014 at 7:36 pm #4293erwinveeMemberEg: when I expand the number of portfolio items to -say- 9, the number of images shown when I click an item changes to 9 as well. This seems counter-intuitive to me; the other portfolio themes I used always allowed you to assign image X to item Y.
February 7, 2014 at 8:21 pm #4296erwinveeMemberLet me try to clarify: is it possible to (for example) name a portfolio (or gallery) item Apple and – upon click – to show 5 pictures of projects I did for Apple. And name another item Microsoft, which will show my Microsoft (but not the Apple!) projects when clicked? Hope this makes it easier to understand. :-S
February 8, 2014 at 8:59 pm #4307erwinveeMemberSorry to pop up again, but could you tell me if this behavior – when clicked, a portfolio item will always show all featured images in the entire portfolio, starting with the clicked one – is intended or not? I have spend all day trying to figure out how to change this, but got nowhere. If this is indeed by design, I can simply give up. 🙂 I can’t figure out the logic behind it. It makes much more sense to me to assign (for instance) seven picture to a single portfolio item than the cycle thing. I mean, if you do a project – a photography session, say – for a client, you’d want to show more pics of that individual project, i.e. a portfolio item that cycles those photographs, not ‘random’ pics from other projects. So therefore I keep thinking I am missing something.
Thanks again,
Erwin
February 10, 2014 at 1:39 pm #4333RaghavendraModeratorErwin – from your description, it is still looks like a single portfolio item with multiple “shots” for that portfolio item will do. So, you create a single portfolio item for Microsoft and another one for Apple, each with one featured image each. When you open the Apple one, you display the client information – client name – Apple=, date, author/team name, category(logos, web design, photography etc.) and then show various images belonging to your Apple project.
These set of images can be in the form of slider as shown here –

or
Gallery

or WP Gallery like in this blog post –

or a video as in –

or a combination of these depending on how you want to present your work.
Have said this, some of our users have found the following way of organizing the portfolio items helpful. Can you pls take a look and see if this is something that can help.

Hope we are getting closer to understanding how this works.
