Sorry, if it’s a basic question, but I’ve read through the theme documentation but it’s completely unclear to me how to add items to a Gallery Page.
The “Portfolio and Gallery Page Options – How to make Portfolio and Gallery Entries” section describes adding a Gallery Page but not how to add the pictures themselves.
If the media is uploaded, and I’ve created a Gallery page, how do I select the pictures that appear?
February 12, 2016 at 10:36 am #19238VeenaModeratorFor displaying all the gallery images you can use gallery page template and if you need to filter the gallery items then you can use show_post_snippets shortcode with taxonomy and terms.
Example shortcodes are available in themedocumentation. If you are asking about wordpress native gallery then you can check here –

The functionality is perfect, layout too.
However, I have not found an easy way to tag all media that I want in each category. Is there an easy way to do that other than creating a new gallery page for each picture?
February 15, 2016 at 4:13 am #19277VeenaModeratorYou can use the post snippets shortcode like this –
[show_post_snippets id="gallery-list" post_type="gallery_item" taxonomy="gallery_category" terms="inspiration,technology"post_count=12 image_size='medium' excerpt_count=100 display_title=false show_meta=false display_summary=false show_excerpt="true" hide_thumbnail="false"]
You can give the required gallery category that you want to display using terms parameter.
February 15, 2016 at 3:16 pm #19296rpaskinParticipantThank you for the reply, but I don’t think that’s what I’m looking for.
I know how to get a page with a gallery showing up, and the shortcode you posted helps filter it even better.
However, what I don’t know is how to take hundreds of media pictures already uploaded to my site and tag all of them with a category.
It seems the process is to create a new gallery entry for each one, and that takes way too long for each. Since I have hundreds, it’s impractical. Is there a solution?
February 16, 2016 at 3:13 pm #19314RaghavendraModeratorActually I feel you should seriously consider using a plugin like Essential Grid that can handle such a scenario. The theme gallery function is not ideal for the scenario you are describing.
