default page permalink issue

Hi, probably a dumb question but i can’t figure out how to remove the default permalink page info from new pages i create, problem is in the addresses, for example my portfolio page has portfolio-three-columns/ or others have /page-default-template/. How do i get rid of these, tried in WP Admin at the top – thru the permalink editor but that only lets you edit the very end of the address which is no good. HELP!!
