Can we change the layout of the news page, or the way the items are being shown?

Hi

The theme has a default way of displaying the news items on the site (an image and the text below it). I wanted to change the way these items are being displayed to a horizontal format (something similar to http://www.smartergrowth.net/category/news-parent/news/ )

Could you please let me know how would I be able to do the same? I wasn’t able to find any settings in which I can change the way they were being displayed.

For this you need to modify the news template.

Its possible to display news page like our blog page if you wish ..
