    Hi,

I have two categories of blog posts: “blog” and “news.” I have a blog page and a news page to show the appropriate posts. If a website visitor then clicks on a particular news article to read the full article, it shows up in the “single post” page. However on this single post page, the sidebar (with recent posts, archive and next/previous) shows posts from both categories. I only want it to show the other news articles, in this case.

    Any suggestions?

    News page:
    http://www.ysura.com/category/news/

    Blog page:
    http://www.ysura.com/category/blog/

    Single news article:
    http://www.ysura.com/doctors-take-charge-of-their-relationship-to-pharmaceutical-companies/

Note how the sidebar shows category BLOG posts as well. I want it to show only NEWS.

    Thanks
    Keith

If you do not mind the extra work, I would recommend you create a custom sidebar in the theme options and then set the widgets in the widgets area and make sure every news “post” has this custom sidebar set in the post edit window (bottom right box of post edit window). That will give quite a bit of flexibility.

The above solution will avoid having to deal with code changes in sidebar-manager.php file to achieve this.
