Agile installation troubles

Hello,

I’m a bit dissapointed. Your theme is my first purchase on themeforest. I selected the Agile theme because of its clean design and easy installation. You even advertise it (I’ve seen this somewhere in my decission process) as 5 minutes setup. Unfortunately I’ve already spent (wasted?) several dozen of minutes and gave up. Now I think if I shouldn’t rather return it to Envato and ask for a refund. Why? Well… There are few things:

1) Documentation is not up-to-date. I’ve thought I could use a simple step by step instruction and it really looks that simple, but it is not adequate. I’ve uploaded by FTP and there were errors (missing images e.g. theme screenshot). So I decided to install the theme through the admin panel. It worked better and this was the method recommended in the video mentioned in the documentation. However there’s no video for the Agile theme on your YT channel. Never mind… Theme installed but …

2) … WordPress reports missing plugins which is a bit of surprise because your on your video for the Enigmatic theme there’s no such messages. I’ve seen the Revolution slider plugin directory in the downloaded theme source, but the documentation doesn’t mention that it should be installed before the theme or even installed at all. I’ve installed the Revolution slider from the link proposed by WordPress. There are few other plugins missing (recommended as the message states). I’ve installed them too. Ok, hopefully everything looks properly…

3) I would like to use the Agile demo settings as a base for my modifications. I’ve decided to import the sample data XML provided with the theme. Ufortunately there’s no information that the importer plugin must be first installed, but ok… I’ve installed it and selected the agile-sample-data.xml file, then uploaded it using the importer. Unfortunately the import process failed (checked twice on clean WP installs). The list of errors during the import was long, e.g. “Failed to import pa_color Black” (full log below). I’ve thought that maybe it passed somehow, set up menus as in the video and checked the website. It looks a bit like the demo but it is definately not what I’ve been expected. There are no images, slider doesn’t work, porfolio displays images but there is no filters for portoflio items, it’s far from what I expected.

I don’t want to loose more time on setting the theme up to the state of the working demo theme experience that convinced me to purchase. I’d like to start working on my website but I can’t while I don’t have a good starting point for this which I had been expecting when my decission was made to choose a LiveMesh theme.

Are there any known issues that cause this? Could you please help me with the installation to the state of your demo on ThemeForest? I can provide a clean install and admin login if needed.

My attempts was on the newest WordPress v3.8.1 version in English language however the final installation will be on other language.

Well… I’ve just watched the “Extinct Retro Vintage WordPress Theme – Installation” video and all the above troubles are discussed in the movie. Sorry for bothering you 🙂 I’ve sorted almost everything out. The only problem I’ve got is the “Take a quick tour” button over the revolution slider is not styled properly and the Shop page is not present though I’ve installed WooCommerce plugin from the WooThemes page. I hope this is related to the low resources issue on my vps. I’ll reimport tommorow with more resources and let you know.

Sorry that you had trouble with setting up your site. I am glad that you have sorted out the issues now. For the shop page you will have to import the WooCommerce sample data xml file located in WooCommerce plugin folder.

Regarding the button styling, pls reply as a private message here with the site URL and a temporary login to the WordPress dashboard and I can take a look. Thanks!

I was able to login to first link – the site looks good, just like the demo site. For WooCommerce, as Nexus indicated above, you need to load the sample data and you should be ready to go. You are right – you just need to import the dummy.xml file in the plugins/WooCommerce directory and all the data should get imported – all the data that you see on our demo site.

Unfortunately, the account you sent lacks rights for me to do the import or see the Rev Slider admin. You will need to make me admin to take a look at that Rev Slider button. If you still have trouble, pls change the rights and post me a message here. Thanks

I logged in to your site and have rectified the issues you mentioned. There was a problem with the button code in the Revolution Slider which I have fixed. I think it was a Revolution slider import issue. Have imported the sample data for the shop and everything looks cool now.

Hi, great! Could you please explain what changes are required to make the buttons appear on revo slider if I wanted to do this by myself in the future? The same about the shop issue. The installation on the digitalocean droplet was only a test install for you. I need to modify the main installation (on the first mentioned website) and I would like not to take your time for no important reason, please.

For the button to appear properly, I removed unnecessary “/” from the button layer in all the slides. For the shop page, you will have to configure the default shop page in WooCommerce settings.

Hi,

I’m not able to configure the Shop link in the menu to display weoocmmerce products. It shows revoslider only. I’ve looked into the woocommerce configuration (woocmmerce/settings/pages) and there’s the “Shop” page selected as “Shop base page”. Nevertheless clicking on the Shop in the Agile demo in my installation shows empty page with revo slider only.

I’ve watched your new youtube movie about Agile installation and you did nothing special for the woocommerce to work. I do exactly the same things as in the movie and my page looks this way: http://188.226.128.242/?page_id=4723

Under WooCommerce settings->Pages tab, you need to set the shop page to a different page. Unfortunately in our older versions, a development shop page sneaked into the sample data which is causing this issue. So, at present you should have two shop pages in the system – one which is like the above described and the other which is what you are looking for. You will need to reset links to the other development shop page.

The above has been rectified in the latest update and the other shop page has been deleted. We had plans to do a shop home earlier which caused this issue.
